Dr. Elizabeth Juneman
Dr. Juneman received her undergrad degree in electrical engineering at Dallas’ Southern Methodist University. She earned her medical degree at the University of Texas - Houston Health Sciences Center and completed her internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson. She joined the UA faculty in 2007 and worked at Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, where she served as director of echocardiography and director of heart failure for seven years. In 2015, Dr. Juneman returned full-time to the UA College of Medicine, where she currently serves as director of outpatient cardiology. She’s board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and advanced heart failure/transplantation. She won the Charles W. Hall Jr. Memorial Cardiology Fellowship Teaching Award in 2011, and has been recognized by her peers as one of the Best Doctors in America since 2009.
Dr. Juneman’s clinical research and basic science research focuses on understanding the cellular, electrical and mechanical remodeling in ischemic heart failure. Her laboratory utilizes a rodent ischemic heart failure model and she recently developed a platform for pre-clinical electrophysiology testing in models of heart failure. Dr. Juneman has served as a principal investigator in nationally funded, multi-center clinical trials, as well as her own investigator-initiated clinical trials. She has authored multiple original research publications, a book chapter, and multiple clinical reviews.
Dr. Andrew Kraft
In addition to being a professor of medicine and UA Cancer Center director, Dr. Kraft is senior associate dean for translational research, UA College of Medicine – Tucson, associate vice president for oncology programs, UA Health Sciences, and the Sydney E. Salmon Endowed Chair at the UA.
As UA Cancer Center director, he oversees all major scientific, clinical and administrative matters as they relate to cancer. He has ultimate management authority over membership, facilities, budget, clinical operations, and recruitment initiation, in addition to establishing relationships with other institutions and setting strategic direction for the Center. His priority is to ensure the UA Cancer Center directly serves the state of Arizona in its efforts to reduce the cancer burden for all its residents.
Dr. Kraft works to strengthen collaborative team-oriented science, reach out to the diverse communities within the state, translate bench science to the clinic and grow the potential for personalized medicine.
An accomplished prostate cancer researcher and developer of novel cancer drugs, he is the principal investigator for numerous clinical trials aimed at finding new treatments and cures for cancer. His research has been continuously funded since 1990 by the National Cancer Institute, U.S. Department of Defense and Prostate Cancer Research Foundation. He has more than 130 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
