SPEAKERS: Stefano Guerra, MD, PhD, MPH and Yves Lussier, MD, FAMCI
Dr. Stefano Guerra:After receiving his MD from the University of Milan, Italy, Dr Guerra joined the UA, where he completed a master in public health, earned a doctorate in epidemiology with minor in genetics, and where he has been on faculty since 2003. He is currently a professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine; the Henry E. Dahlberg Chair in Asthma Research; and the Director of the Population Science Unit at the Asthma and Airway Disease Research Center. At UA, he also holds joint appointments at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and at the BIO5 Institute. His main academic interests include the natural history and phenotypic overlap of asthma and COPD, the childhood roots of adult lung diseases, and the use of biomarkers and genomic tools to identify molecular components and develop tailored interventions in lung diseases. His research has been continuously funded for the last fifteen years through the National Institutes of Health, the Francis Family Foundation, the American Heart Association, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the American Thoracic Society.
