Jonathan D. Rich, MD, is an associate professor of medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He is also the medical director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support Program, the program director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship Program, and a member of the pulmonary vascular disease team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Rich earned his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York where he graduated with Honors (Alpha Omega Alpha). He completed a residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School and he completed fellowships in cardiology and advanced heart failure and transplant at the University of Chicago Hospital, Pritzker School of Medicine, where he also served as the chief fellow. He also spent an additional year of training in pulmonary arterial hypertension and right heart failure research under the tutelage of Dr. Stuart Rich. He subsequently joined the faculty at the University of Chicago before being recruited to Northwestern, where he has been on faculty for the past five years.
Dr. Rich is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and advanced heart failure and transplant. He is a Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) faculty member, a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), a fellow of the Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute (PVRI), an elected member of the ACCP Pulmonary Vascular Disease Steering Committee, and is currently serving on the HFSA’s Board of Directors as the liaison to the early career committee. Dr. Rich is also an active member of several professional organizations and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA).
