Dr. Jane Mohler Named AZ Gerontologist of the Year

[Jane Mohler, RN, MPH, PhD]Jane Mohler, RN, MPH, PhD, Professor of Medicine, Associate Director of the Arizona Center on Aging, and Co-Director of the Arizona Geriatric Education Center, was awarded Arizona Gerontologist of the Year (2012), at the Arizona Geriatric Society’s annual meeting held in Phoenix.

A longtime advocate of aging adults, Dr. Mohler is especially interested in the areas of redesigning care to improve value, and interprofessional geriatric education and training for health professionals and trainees. An inveterate team player, Dr. Mohler ‘s recent accomplishments include helping to obtain NICHE (Nursing Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) certification for UAHN-South Hospital, co-development and planning of an Acute Care of Elders (ACE) Unit to prevent functional decline among frail adults, and co-development  of  a  Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Community-based Care Transitions Program award (one of 47 nationally).  Jane is likewise devoted to mentoring trainees and faculty in the development of aging-related quality improvement and clinical research projects.
