UA's Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals Past Presidents Recognized

A June 13 article in The Rheumatologist spotlights a reception hosted in Tucson to recognize Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals (ARHP) past presidents with ties here: podiatrist David Wayne Smith, DED, DABPS, DACFE, a University of Arizona professor emeritus and director, UA Disability Assessment Research ClinicGail Kershner Riggs and Eric Gall, MD, a UA Arthritis Center founder (pictured with Dr. Kwoh, 2nd from left).

The event was a follow-up to the American College of Rheumatology’s honoring of the AHRP’s 50th anniversary at the ACR/ARHP Annual Meeting in San Francisco last November. Ms. Riggs and Dr. Smith were unable to make the trip to San Francisco.

The Tucson reception was hosted at the home of arthritis center director and chief of the Division of Rheumatology, C. Kent Kwoh, MD, and his wife. The UA boasts the greatest number of former ARHP presidents.

2016 Arthritis Center Bear Down Luncheon Raises Over $20,000

The UA Arthritis Center extended a tremendous thank you to all those who attended and supported its 2016 Bear Down Luncheon held Thursday, April 16, at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse in Tucson. A sold-out event once again, the luncheon raised more than $20,000 through the generous support of donors to the center. Funds raised help us move closer to finding innovative treatments for arthritis and eventually a cure for this debilitating disease.
