Vivian Y. Shi, MD, an assistant professor in the University of Arizona Division of Dermatology, has been awarded the 2017 Dermatology Foundation Patient Directed Investigation Grant. She will study the mechanisms involved in regulating anti-oxidative enzymes in patients with eczema. The enzymes serve as the main line of defense to prevent damaged cells.
Dr. Shi will use the $20,000 grant to enroll as many as 40 patients—with and without eczema—for the observational study. Dr. Shi will enroll participants from her clinics at Banner – University Medical Center facilities; others can sign up at https://clinicaltrials.gov after July 1.
