Bree Johnston, MD, MPH, FACP, has been with the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson faculty and Banner – University Medical Center clinical staff since February of 2017. She received her education and training from University of California (UC) Santa Cruz, UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, UC Davis and Stanford University.  She is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatrics, General Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine. She spends the majority of her time with the inpatient palliative care service, and also works with the University of Arizona Center on Aging and the Arizona Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (AzGWEP). From 2011-16, Dr. Johnston was the Director of Palliative Care at PeaceHealth Medical System, serving hospitals in Washington, Oregon and Alaska, and also served as a Professor at the University of Washington. Most of her career was spent at UC San Francisco, where she served as the Chief for Geriatrics Education and Director of the Geriatric Fellowship Program. She is the author of numerous book chapters and journal articles, and has spoken extensively on numerous geriatrics and palliative care topics. She also is the past Chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine's Geriatrics Exam Writing Committee.
