Dr. Kadambi completed his MBBS training at Bangalore Medical College and then trained at Yale New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus, in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Due to his passion for kidney transplantation, he pursued a Transplant Nephrology fellowship at the University of Chicago, where he was the first fellow to undergo this training under the guidance of Dr. Michelle Josephson. He was recruited as faculty at the University of Chicago and held leadership positions including the Director of the Nephrology Outpatient Practice, and the Director of the Medicine Inpatient Bed Flow Control. He was able to improve the clinic practice both in terms of patient satisfaction and revenue. His interest in the business aspect of healthcare led him to successfully complete an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management with majors in Leadership in Organizations and Marketing.

He was then recruited to UTMB, Galveston as the Medical Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation. In a short time, he was not only able to double the size of the kidney transplant list, but also significantly improve the time from evaluation to listing. He also served as the Chair of the Physician Engagement and Marketing Committee and was in the Dean’s Academic Enterprise Strategic Refresh 2020, Committee on Clinical Program Priorities. He was also a member of the Dean’s Nexus Group, which comprised of physicians with business degrees, and served as the institution’s internal consulting group.

Currently, Dr. Kadambi is the Director of Solid Organ Transplantation and the Interim Chief of the Division of Nephrology at the University of Arizona. He is committed to improving the service to our patients and communication with our referring physicians both within and outside the institution. He also serves on the Renal Transplant Fellowship Accreditation committee of the American Society of Transplantation and the Communications Committee of the American Society of Nephrology.

He has served on the Executive Committee of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, the Membership Committee of the American Society of Transplantation, Pancreas Transplant Councilor of the Texas Transplant Society and Abstract Review Committee of the American Transplant Congress. He has also given many lectures all over the country. He received the Best Teacher Award, the Mentorship Award by the Nephrology Fellows and the Community Leadership Award by the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois during his tenure at the University of Chicago and the best teacher award at UTMB two years in a row. He is also an active researcher and has published in many reputed journals.

He is also very active in the community and currently served as the President of the Executive Committee of the India Center of Clear Lake (ICCL), a not-for-profit social organization in South Houston, TX in 2012.

Dr. Sussman completed her medical schooling at the University of Arizona and her Internal Medicine Residency training at the University of Washington.  She was selected and served as Chief Medical Resident following completion of her residency.  She subsequently pursued a Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Washington during which time she spent three years dedicated to bench research focusing on mechanisms of podocyte detachment utilizing both cell culture and animal models under the direction of Dr. Stuart Shankland. 

Dr. Sussman was recruited to the University of Arizona in 2009 and has served as a clinician educator with a strong emphasis in medical student teaching and has been distinguished with multiple teaching awards in the College of Medicine.  She assumed the role of Program Director of the Nephrology Fellowship in 2013.  Dr. Sussman maintains an active interest in Glomerulonephritis and is a sub-investigator of the Membranous Nephropathy Trial of Rituxan (MENTOR) clinical trial. She additionally serves as the Medical Director of DCI Desert Dialysis units, Sauharita, and South Tucson.  She has developed and is the Clinical Director of the nocturnal in-center dialysis program at DCI South Tucson.

Dr. Thajudeen's areas of research interest include critical care nephrology, acute kidney injury and diabetic nephropathy. He is the Principal investigator for the Multicenter EUPHRATES trial and sub-investigator for the MENTOR trial.

Dr. Thajudeen completed medical school at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College in Kerala, India. After completing an additional three year training in internal medicine in the same institution, Dr. Thajudeen moved to the United States where he completed his internal medicine residency and fellowship training at the University of Arizona. He joined the University of Arizona Division of Nephrology in 2013. 

Dr. Thajudeen serves as the chief of nephrology service at the University of Arizona Medical Center  South Campus, and as medical director of the DCI Dialysis Center South Tucson.
