Bianca B. Afonso, MD

Dr. Bianca Afonso obtained her medical degree from the Universidade Federal Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil followed by Internal Medicine training at Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Cleveland Clinic Florida and then served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona - South Campus. In 2012, she completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Arizona and joined the faculty. Dr. Afonso practices all aspects of general gastroenterology, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), anorectal disorders, colorectal cancer screening, celiac disease, esophageal reflux and inflammatory bowel disease. She has a special interest in women’s health issues in gastroenterology, including pelvic floor dysfunction, fecal incontinence, constipation and GI disorders related to pregnancy.
