TOPIC: Adverse Childhood Experiences and Adult Diseases: Update on Connections and new Treatment Approaches
SPEAKER: Hilary McClafferty, MD

Hilary McClafferty, MD, FAAP is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and is Board certified in pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, and integrative medicine. Dr. McClafferty received her medical degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and completed pediatric residency training at Northwestern Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. She is fellowship trained in pediatric emergency medicine through The Children’s Hospital, Denver, Colorado, certified in clinical hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and trained in medical acupuncture through the University of California, Los Angeles/ Helm’s Medical Institute. She completed her fellowship training in integrative medicine through University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine in 2005 and returned to join the Center’s faculty in 2011. She is a leader of the fellowship and Director of the Pediatric Integrative Medicine in Residency program, an international program designed to embed pediatric integrative medicine into residency training, a program that now serves more than 500 residents and faculty.  She is immediate past chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Integrative Medicine and chair of the initiative for Physician Health and Wellness in the Academy.  Dr. McClafferty is a founding member of the American Board of Integrative Medicine and serves as Secretary of the Executive Board. She is the author of the upcoming textbook:  Integrative Pediatrics, Art, Science, and Clinical Application, CRC Press/Taylor Francis Group.
