UA’s Mobile Health Program Expands Services The UA Mobile Health Program has expanded its primary-care services in partnership with the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF), Youth on Their Own (YOTO) and Primavera Foundation’s Casa Paloma. The mobile clinic provides full-service primary care to low-income residents in medically underserved communities throughout Pima County.

New EMS Bachelor’s Degree Program Starts This Fall at UA College of Medicine – Tucson

One of a few programs in the nation administered through a clinical department, the UA Bachelor of Science major and minor in EMS is designed to enhance emergency medical professionals’ leadership and clinical skills, preparing them for a future in prehospital medicine.

Using Big Data to Prevent Cardiac Arrhythmias Researchers at the University of Arizona and Banner Health will create alerts to identify patients at risk for developing heart rhythm disorders and sudden cardiac death, thanks to a $766,000 grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

UA’s Dr. Monica Kraft to be Honored at Women’s Forum During ATS 2019

The American Thoracic Society will honor Monica Kraft, MD, chair of the University of Arizona Department of Medicine, with its Elizabeth A. Sold Out Bear Down Luncheon Contributes Nearly $2M to UA Arthritis Center Research

The Bear Down Luncheon, an annual fundraiser hosted by the University of Arizona Arthritis Center in partnership with UA Athletics, is so popular it was sold out weeks before this year’s event May 8 at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Tucson. Football coach Kevin Sumlin and AD Dave Heeke were keynote speakers. Center Director and UA Rheumatology Chief Dr. Kent Kwoh said the partnership has raised nearly $2 million for arthritis research since 1983. See the video…

Dr. Marvin Slepian Receives Much-Deserved Appointment as Regents' Professor

In a message from the UA Senior Vice President for Health Sciences Dr. Michael Dake, it was announced that cardiologist Dr. Slepian, professor of medicine and medical imaging, was appointed a Regents' Professor April 11 by the Arizona Board of Regents. These prestigious appointments are limited to no more than 3 percent of the university’s tenured and tenure-track faculty members and only four other UA professors received this title for 2019.


UA Public Health Graduate Students Receive Prestigious Cancer Research Fellowship Three graduate students from the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health have received the 2019 Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations Fellowship.
