First-Ever PI Research Poster Night by Department of Medicine Pulls in 100 Attendees

The PI Poster Session hosted by the UA Department of Medicine on Jan. 17 at Kiewit Auditorium in the UA Cancer Center’s Leon F. Levy Building, 1515 N. Campbell Ave., was a smashing success with nearly 100 people attending.

The evening event included nearly 40 poster presentations from principal investigators (PIs) within the department showcasing their research and opportunities for collaboration with students, residents, fellows and faculty within the UA Health Sciences colleges.

“We had outstanding participation by faculty and a lot of excellent discussions about current and future projects with participants,” said DOM Vice Chair for Research Jil Tardiff, MD, PhD (center in photo at left with Peter Lance, MD, deputy director of the UA Cancer Center, and Archita Desai, MD, of the UA Liver Research Institute). “We definitely plan for this to be a yearly event.”

Dr. Tardiff is a professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology, a member of the UA Sarver Heart Center and UA BIO5 Institute, and the Steven M. Gootter Endowed Chair for the Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death. She is also a professor of cellular and molecular medicine.
