Congratulations to the more than 140 Banner – University Medical Group and community physicians practicing at Banner Health Tucson hospitals and clinics who have been named to the Best Doctors in America® List for 2017-18.
In a recent internal web posting, Banner Health noted about four percent of doctors in America earn this prestigious honor as a result of a biennial Best Doctors Poll. Each listed physician has received peer consensus as a physician from whom other physicians would seek care. The only way for a physician to be selected is to be nominated by and then receive voting consensus from current Best Doctors physicians.
“We are proud of your practice here!” the Banner intranet web post continued.
Close to 40,000 physicians made the list from across the country. Of those, there are 950 Arizona physicians (see map at far left) and 732 adult care physicians in the state (see map at left) listed among the "Best Doctors in America." Click on the maps to view them in larger scale.
This list is not to be confused with the “Top Doctors” list compiled by Castle Connolly and included in the Tucson Lifestyle magazine “Top Doctors” summer issue. Twenty-five of more than 90 BUMG "top docs" listed in 2017 were on faculty with the University of Arizona Department of Medicine (DOM), the largest department at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson. The department has some 250 faculty physicians across 14 divisions representing all subspecialties in internal medicine from cardiology to rheumatology.
Tucson Lifestyle switched from using the Best Doctors Inc. list in its 2015 edition. Of the BUMG “Best Doctors” listed in 2017-18, 46 are DOM faculty physicians. See the bolded names below for those DOM physicians included on the list:
