Eleven of about 36 awards presented at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson’s 38th Annual Faculty Teaching Awards and the Vernon and Virginia Furrow Awards went to faculty in the UA Department of Medicine.
Dr. Christopher DeSouza is a professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology and Medicine (cardiology) at the University of Colorado. He directs the Integrative Vascular Biology Laboratory and is co-director of the Clinical and Translational Research Center at the University of Colorado Boulder. The research mission of Dr. DeSouza’s laboratory is to study the effects of cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors and disease on vascular endothelial cell function. Dr. DeSouza has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1995.
Physicians with the University of Arizona Internal Medicine Residency Programs at Tucson and South Campus took three first places and a third place prize at the 2017 Arizona Chapter Scientific Meeting of the American College of Physicians over this past weekend, Oct. 20-22, at the DoubleTree Reid Park in Tucson.
“Imagine a Future Free of the Pain of Arthritis…Meet the UA Arthritis Center Researchers,” will be presented Wednesday, Nov. 1, 6-7:15 p.m., at the University of Arizona Cancer Center, Kiewit Auditorium, 1515 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson.
