Topic: "Meds and Free Speech: A Medical, Legal, and Policy Discussion"

Join us for a lunchtime panel on Friday, Nov. 17 from noon to 2:00 p.m. with Professor Christopher Robertson and Representative Randall Friese on communications on off-label uses of drugs and the free speech rights of commercial producers.

Rep. Friese is the Arizona State Representative for District 9, the Assistant Democratic Leader, and he also serves on the Appropriations Committee in the Arizona State Legislature. Professor Robertson is the associate dean for Research and Innovation and also a professor of law at the UA James E. Rogers College of Law. Representative Friese and Dean Robertson will be discussing off-label use communications regarding drugs, biologics, and devices by manufacturers, in relation to manufacturers’ First Amendment rights to freedom of speech in light of the Free Speech in Medicine Act, which allows the truthful promotion of an off-label drug, biologic, or device.

Lunch will be served at noon.
