About the Speaker
Dr. Angelo de Mattos is a Professor of Medicine and the Medical Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation at the University of Arizona and Banner University Medical Centers Tucson and South.Dr. de Mattos is an established national leader in kidney transplantation and prior to joining the University of Arizona he directed one of the largest transplant centers in the country at the University of California at Davis, which performed between 300-400 transplants per year under his leadership. A graduate of Universidade Federal Do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Dr. de Mattos was trained at Oregon Health Sciences University and has held leadership positions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and at the University of California at Davis. Dr. de Mattos’ clinical interests focus on kidney and kidney-pancreas transplantation and Nephrology. His research focuses on seeking a better understanding of cardiovascular disease in individuals with chronic kidney disease and kidney transplantation with an emphasis on early detection and intervention. He is also interested in access to renal transplantation, outcomes research, and recurrence of renal disease after transplantation.
