TOPIC: The Best in Med Ed: What’s New, What Works?
Sterling G. West, M.D. is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Co-Director of the Metabolic Bone Clinic at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Dr. West received his undergraduate degree at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and his medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Dr. West completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and a fellowship in Rheumatology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He was the Rheumatology Fellowship Program Director at the University of Colorado for 20+ years. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and is a Master of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and a Master of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR).
Dr. West's research activities are extensive in several areas of Rheumatology where he has numerous presentations and more than 100 published abstracts, articles, and book chapters. He is the editor of the book, Rheumatology Secrets, which is in its third edition. He is past Deputy Editor of Arthritis and Rheumatism and serves on several ACR and ABIM committees. He is past chairman of the ABIM SEP Examination Committee in Rheumatology. In addition, he is a reviewer for Arthritis and Rheumatism, Journal of Rheumatology, and the Annals of Internal Medicine. For the last several years he has been selected as one of the Best Doctors in America, Top Doctors in America, and 5280 Top Doctors in Denver. Dr. West has received many honors and awards including the Army ACP Laureate Award, Colorado ACP Laureate Award, the University of Colorado Full-Time Physician of the Year Award, the ACR Distinguished Clinician Scholar Award, and the ACR Distinguished Fellowship Program Director Award.
