Sarver Heart Center Grand Rounds - Advanced Heart Failure in 2018: Optimizing Outcomes

Claudius Mahr, DO, FACC, FESC, is a University of Washington cardiologist specializing in heart failure and heart transplantation, and an associate professor of clinical medicine and cardiac surgery.

Dr. Mahr is director of Clinical Integration, University of Washington Regional Heart Center, and medical director, Mechanical Circulatory Support, at University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, Wash.

He has received formal fellowship training and board certification in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology and has a wide range of experience in the care of patients with heart failure, assist devices and heart transplantation.

Dr. Mahr specializes in the comprehensive, longitudinal care of patients with all etiologies of heart failure and cardiomyopathy, utilizing the latest available medical, surgical and device therapies, including mechanical assist devices and heart transplantation.

Dr. Mahr is a clinical researcher, invited faculty lecturer at national and international scientific meetings, and serves in several professional organizational leadership roles.

He is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, the Heart Failure Association of the ESC, ASAIO, and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, and serves as associate editor of the ISHLT Newsletter.  He is part of the Executive Council of the American College of Cardiology Washington Chapter. 

Dr. Mahr is a member of the Western Society for Clinical Investigation, as well as the European Society for Clinical Investigation.
