Dr. Lorrel E. Brown received her medical training (medical school, residency, chief residency, and cardiology fellowship) at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She joined the faculty at University of Louisville in 2014 and currently serves as Program Director for the Cardiology Fellowship Program, Clinical Director of the Medical Student Cardiovascular Curriculum, and Physician Champion for Resuscitation. Her clinical expertise is in cardiovascular critical care, resuscitation, and post-arrest care. Her research interest is bringing the dead back to life, by exploring and studying novel methods for teaching CPR to the public. She has received numerous research awards, including the prestigious Stamler Award from the Northwestern Cardiovascular Young Investigator Forum in 2017, and the ACC Young Investigator Award in 2016. She is passionate about medical education, and is trying to become a YouTube star - her online cardiovascular critical care lecture series (www.LouisvilleLectures.org) has over 380,000 views! She has been honored to receive numerous educator awards, including the Young Leader to Watch in Residency Education by the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, the Dean's Outstanding Educator Award, and the Golden Apple Award given by the medical students at University of Louisville.
