Dr. Janssen obtained his PhD is 1997, and his laboratory investigates cardiac and skeletal muscle mechanics, with an emphasis on the relaxation process.  He has been continuously funded by NIH and the American Heart Association, and has published over 180 peer-reviewed papers.  He is currently vice-chair and teaching director of the department of Physiology and Cell Biology, and faculty council president of the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University.
