Organizer's Note:
After Dr. Xingnan Li's extensive introduction to complex disease genetics and the power of GWAS on Jan. 18, we will be taken deeper this week into this rapidly evolving field by Dr. Debbie Meyers, who will not only highlight strengths and weaknesses of the much-leveraged GWAS (genome-wide association study) approach but will also discuss how the field is moving beyond it thanks to the increased availability of whole genome sequencing, the ultimate frontier in precision/personalized medicine...

It is hard to imagine who could discuss these central issues more effectively and competently than Dr. Meyers, for the very simple reason that few geneticists have the depth of knowledge, understanding and experience that she has... We are fortunate to have her at the UA and it will be a joy to listen to her this coming Friday.
