Complex Disease Colloquium

Fri, 01/22/2021 - 9:00am to 10:45pm

"A History Lesson on the Genetics of Complex Diseases"
Deborah Meyers, PhD
Professor and Co-Chief
Genetics, Genomics and Precision Medicine
Department of Medicine
Co-Director, Division of Pharmacogenomics
Center for Applied Genetics and Genomics Medicine
University of Arizona Health Sciences

This week, our colleague Debbie Meyers will take us through the foundations and intricacies of complex disease genetics, thus providing us with a framework that will help contextualize everything we are going to discuss later in our colloquium... we'll hear how this field came alive, how it developed, where it is and where it is going... I cannot imagine a better speaker to take on this rather monumental task: few geneticists have the depth of knowledge, understanding and experience that Deb has... but perhaps most importantly, few speakers are both at the roots and at the cutting edge of a field... we are fortunate to have Deb at the UA, and I know it will be a joy to listen to her on Friday - her lucidity, clarity and grasp of essentials are unmatched...
