Loyal Tillotson, MD, PhD

Loyal G. Tillotson, a native of northeastern Ohio, received a B.A. degree in Chemistry from Ohio Northern University before earning combined M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard Medical School. His graduate and postgraduate research centered on the cellular and molecular biology of colon cancer. His postgraduate clinical training included an Internal Medicine Residency at Duke University Medical Center and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Subsequently, he has had faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After retiring from 20 years in private practice in Rapid City, South Dakota, Dr. Tillotson joined our esteemed faculty members here at the University of Arizona. He serves as an attending on the GI service and advisor for the GI Fellows Research Program.  Dr. Tillotson is certified as a Diplomat in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has been a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and presented a variety of research papers at its national meetings. In addition to these professional activities, Dr. Tillotson is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association.
