"Integrative Approaches to Pain Management"

Dr. Ann Marie Chiasson and Dr. Lise Alschuler

Ann Marie Chiasson, MD, MPH, is the Director of the Fellowship at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine and an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Arizona.  Dr. Chiasson graduated with honors from Dalhousie School of Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She is board certified in Integrative Medicine, Family Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.  Dr. Chiasson currently serves on the American Board of Integrative Medicine.  She has practiced Integrative Family Medicine in the United States and Canada and has served as a medical director for Valor Hospice, as an associate medical director for Casa De La Luz Hospice, and as the medical director of The Haven – a Women’s Addiction Recovery Center in Tucson, Arizona.  Stimulated by a life-long interest in the healing capacity of meditation, consciousness and energy healing, Dr. Chiasson studied extensively with indigenous healers in Mexico. She has authored Energy Healing- The Essentials of Self Care (Sounds True, 2013) and co-authored Self-Healing with Energy Medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil (Sounds True, 2009). Dr. Chiasson teaches nationally on topics in Integrative Medicine, Pain Management, Mind-body Medicine and Energy Medicine.

 

Lise Alschuler, ND, FABNO is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Arizona where she is the Associate Director of the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Alschuler received her undergraduate degree from Brown University, Providence RI in 1988. She obtained her naturopathic medical degree from Bastyr University in Seattle WA in 1994 where she also completed her residency in general naturopathic medicine. She is board certified in naturopathic oncology and maintains a clinical practice. Previously, she was the department head of naturopathic medicine at Midwestern Regional Medical Center – Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Dr. Alschuler is past-President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and a founding board member, Past-President and current Board member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She is co-author of Definitive Guide to Cancer, now in its 3rd edition, and Definitive Guide to Thriving After Cancer. The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) recognized Dr. Alschuler in 2014 as Physician of the Year. In 2020, she received the Sheikh Zayed International Award in Naturopathy.
