Dr. Deepak Acharya

Deepak Acharya MD, MSPH is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center and Program Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship. He received his medical degree and completed Internal medicine training at Baylor College of Medicine. He then completed his cardiovascular fellowship, advanced heart failure/transplantation fellowship, and clinical research training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Interventional Cardiology training was completed at the University of Arizona, Tucson.

His clinical expertise is in advanced heart failure, interventional cardiology, acute and durable mechanical circulatory support, cardiac transplantation, and pulmonary hypertension.  His primary clinical and research interest is acute heart failure and cardiogenic shock with particular emphasis on mechanical support and short- and long-term bridging strategies. Other research interests include imaging modalities in cardiac allograft vasculopathy and left ventricular assist devices. He has authored multiple articles in prominent journals on these topics, presented at national and international cardiology meetings, and serves as a reviewer or editorial board member for multiple cardiovascular journals.
