2023 Sarver Heart Center Heart Failure Symposium

Heart disease causes about one in five deaths in the U.S., amounting to nearly 700,000 lives lost each year. It’s the leading cause of death for men, women and people of most racial and ethnic groups, with one person dying every 33 seconds. The cost, including health care services, medicine, and lost productivity due to death, totaled nearly $240 billion in 2019, reports the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

As a result, the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and Heart Failure Society of America released updated guidelines in the management of patients with heart failure April 1, 2022, and the ACC and AHA released chronic coronary disease guidelines earlier this year. The newest guidelines include management of heart failure across all stages, multidisciplinary optimization of guideline-directed medical therapy, and timely and early referral for advanced therapies.

Targeted at health care providers in Southern Arizona, this symposium will address the updated heart failure guidelines, review advancements in technology and genetic testing and emphasize the benefits of a multidisciplinary care team approach with heart failure cases. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Free registration includes up to 3 CME credits.
