The Advances in Aging Lecture Series – also known as Geriatric Grand Rounds – are presented by the University of Arizona Center on Aging and the Division of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics & Palliative Medicine, which is part of the Department of Medicine at the UArizona College of Medicine – Tucson. The lectures are free and open to the public, particularly physicians and other health care professionals with a clinical interest in healthy aging.

Dr. Daniel Butler is the assistant dean of student affairs and an associate professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He directs the UArizona’s Inflammatory and Aging Skin Research Program. Dr. Butler's research interests focus on the presentation and treatment of skin disease in older adults. In this thread, he founded and leads international clinical and research groups evaluating best practices in this population. Dr Butler has active clinical trials focusing on pruritus and atopic dermatitis in older adults. He continues to mentor students and trainees all over the country who are interested in skin disease of the oldest generation.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the lecture, the learner will be able to:
- Identify common skin diseases seen in older populations
- Understand how aging impacts immunologic and neural systems in the skin and how this reflects in skin disease
- Obtains 1 practical tip in treating older patients with skin disease
