James Galligan, PhD
Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
University of Arizona R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy

Galligan is an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Arizona R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy. He studies the link between cellular metabolism, environmental genetics and disease etiology. Keenly interested in post-translational modifications, his research focuses on reactive metabolites deleterious cell health. Current work centers on histone modifications derived from cell metabolism in diabetes and cancer.

Galligan studied physiology at Michigan State University (graduated in 2006) and obtained his doctorate in pharmacology from the University of Colorado in 2012. He did a post-doc at Vanderbilt University  and came to UArizona in 2016. Recipient of several Society for Free Radical Biology and Medicine Young Investigator Awards, he’s also received the Harold C.
