About the Presenter
In taking second place in the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson 2022 Research Day shark tank competition, Dr. Ryniawec proposed a new and simple approach to identify hypoxic regions (regions with low oxygen) in standard tumor biopsy samples. Because tumor hypoxia is associated with worse patient outcome, this approach may be used alongside the current standard of care to better predict patient prognosis and inform treatment decisions.
