The Patras lab efforts focus on the vaginal microbiota and its role in urogenital health and disease. We are keenly interested in host-microbe interactions as they pertain to overall urogenital health and bacterial pathogenesis, with focus on urinary tract infections, vaginal colonization, pregnancy and diabetes.  The lab combines basic science and translational approaches to further expand our understanding of the vaginal microbiota as an essential element of women’s health.
