Presenter: 

Dr. Shikha Wadhwani is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She is founder and director of the Northwestern Glomerular Disease Program and program director for Northwestern’s Advanced Fellowship in Glomerular Diseases. She co-founded the Rheum-Renal Lupus Nephritis clinic which provides interdisciplinary care to patients with kidney involvement due to SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus). Dr. Wadhwani’s clinical interest and research focuses on patients with glomerular diseases, vasculitis, and pregnancy-associated kidney disease. She is site principal investigator for the NIH-funded CureGN study (CureGN.org) and several clinical trials for rare autoimmune and inflammatory kidney diseases.

Dr. Wadhwani earned her bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 2005 and her medical and master’s degrees from Chicago’s Rush University Medical College in 2010 and 2016 respectively. She completed her residency training in internal medicine (2013) and was a postdoctoral nephrology research fellow (2014) and completed her fellowship training (2016) at Rush University Medical Center. Afterward, she did an advanced fellowship in glomerular diseases at Ohio State University (2017).  

Board certified in internal medicine and nephrology, Dr. Wadhwani is a member of a number of professional societies and was a founding member of the Education Committee for the International Society of Glomerular Disease. Among her honors, she was recognized by NephCure Kidney International in 2020 and received Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine Outstanding Teacher Award in 2018, 2019 and 2020. She has been a review editor for the journal Frontiers Nephrology since 2021.
