Please join us in commemorating Dr. Dalen’s and Dr. Smith’s legacy as educators and administrators at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.
Dr. James Dalen, a cardiologist, served as dean of the College of Medicine – Tucson (1988-2001) and vice president of the University of Arizona Health Sciences (1995-2001). He championed creation of the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine as well as the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.

Dr. Jay Smith, an internist, enjoyed nearly three decades (1970-1999) on UArizona’s faculty, serving as director, Internal Medicine Residency Program; chief, Section of General Internal Medicine; and vice dean of academic affairs, College of Medicine – Tucson. The evening’s program includes a reception with light refreshments, remarks from leadership, photo slideshows of each of their lives, and open remarks from family & guests.
