Presenter: Pavlos Msaouel is a physician-scientist with Baylor College of Medicine and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is dedicated to kidney cancer research, with a particular emphasis on rare subtypes such as renal medullary carcinoma. His laboratory identified the serum biomarker currently used to monitor cancer burden in most patients with renal medullary carcinoma, as well as many of the targeted therapies currently used for this disease. These discoveries were accelerated by his introduction of modern data science approaches to research and clinical practice. He serves as the principal investigator of several completed and ongoing clinical trials for rare and common kidney cancers, including the first such trials designed specifically for renal medullary carcinoma.
