Health Forum: Progressive Action on Diabetes Prevention, Oct. 16

Health Forum: Progressive Action on Diabetes Prevention, a free event, open to the public, will take place Wednesday, Oct. 16, Noon-1:30 p.m., in the Student Union Memorial Center, Kiva Room, 1303 E. University Blvd., on the University of Arizona main campus.

Sponsored by the UA Chicano/Hispano Student Affairs, the University of Arizona Center on Aging and the Department of Surgery’s Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance, the event will include:

• The latest diabetes treatment and research programs
• Student involvement opportunities
• Open question panel

Panel Members:

• David Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD, UA professor of surgery and director, Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA)

• Joseph Mills, MD, UA professor of surgery, chief of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, and co-director of SALSA

• Merri Pendergrass, MD, PhD, UA professor of medicine and director of the Diabetes Program at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson

• Joaquin Ruiz, PhD, UA executive dean of the Colleges of Letters, Arts and Science, dean of the College of Sciences and vice president of innovation and strategy

• Carlyle Begay, Arizona State Senator, member of the committees on Education, Government and Environment and Natural Resources and Rural Affairs
