Dr. Campion and Dr. Knox 
Janet Campion, MD, associate professor of medicine, at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, has been recognized as the first-ever adult cystic fibrosis program director for the UA Cystic Fibrosis Center. She also received a PACE (Program for Adult Care Excellence) Award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to support her work to strengthen the adult program. The three-year grant is valued at $81,000.
“This is a big deal for us and Dr. Campion should be lauded for the dedication she’s shown toward improving care of adult cystic fibrosis patients in Tucson and Southern Arizona,” said Ken Knox, MD, chair, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine for the UA College of Medicine.
Dr. Campion earned her medical degree in 1994 at the University of Kansas, where she did an internal medicine residency and served as chief resident. At the UA, she completed a geriatric fellowship in 2002, earned an MPH degree in 2004 and served as an internal medicine attending physician from 2002 to 2010. She then did a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship here and rejoined faculty in 2013. She has more than four years of experience with CF care, working with pulmonologist Jerry A. Nick, MD, Colorado Adult CF program director in Denver, and UA colleagues, Cori Daines, MD (CF Center director and pediatric CF program director), Wayne Morgan MD, Mark Brown, MD, and Roni Grad, MD.
