Of 7,500 Applicants, Last of 450 Internal Medicine Residency Candidates Finish Interviews, Tours

The final Applicant Visit Day events preceding the 2016-17 Resident Match Day ceremonies took place in January.

Several groups of internal medicine residency applicants from across the country and beyond took part in interviews and received a tour of our facilities at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson and Banner – University Medical Center Tucson and South.

Within the UA Department of Medicine, our residency programs include about 30 open spots a year on the UA Internal Medicine Residency Program – Tucson Campus and about 10 spots for the UA Internal Medicine Residency Program – South Campus. The department also offers a Dermatology Residency Program that begins in the second year of resident training following an internship year. 

In all, nearly 3,500 applications were received for the Tucson Campus program and more than 250 candidates were interviewed. South Campus received about the same number of applications and interviewed nearly 150 candidates. More than 450 applications were received for the dermatology residency and about a 10th of those were interviewed.
