The Petersen HIV Clinics pharmacy team will provide a brief presentation and Q&A on Friday, July 22, about new and future treatments for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and AIDS at the Leon Levy Cancer Center building, located in front of the Banner – University Medical Center Tucson hospital.
Kristen Ellis, PharmD, BCPS, a clinical pharmacist for infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS, said new research and pharmaceutical therapies will be discussed in July in this every-other-month event series presented by Petersen HIV Clinics Pharmacy Group staff. The Petersen Clinic Community Advisory Board (CAB) also hosted an open house which served as a meet-and-greet for Elizabeth Connick, MD, who took over as UA Division of Infectious Diseases chief in April.
The July event for the Pharmacy Group—which is primarily for patients, as are most events in the series—will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 2920 of the UA Cancer Center, 1515 N. Campbell Ave. Learn tips for medication success. You’ll have direct access for medication questions.

The Petersen HIV Clinics at the University of Arizona have been providing comprehensive care for HIV/AIDS patients in southern Arizona for more than 30 years. They are funded by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. With the support of the Ryan White Program, all eligible HIV-positive patients can receive primary care at reduced or no cost.
The UA Petersen HIV Clinics, while operating at Banner – UMC Tucson and South hospitals, are part of the University of Arizona Division of Infectious Diseases. The division also runs the Arizona AIDS Education & Training Center, which is funded by HRSA grants as well and is focused on providing health care professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to offer outstanding care to people living with HIV and AIDS.
