Banner Opens Three New Primary Care Offices this Spring

Banner – University Medicine has opened a primary care office in Marana and will open two more in the Tucson area in the next three months.

“We constantly hear from the community about how difficult  it is to find a primary care provider in Tucson, so we are making access to convenient primary care a priority this year,” said Chad Whelan, MD, chief executive officer of Banner – University Medicine in Tucson.

The Banner – University Medicine Cortaro Primary Care office, 8020 N. Cortaro Road, Suite 150, opened to patients April 1.

Banner – University Medicine plans to open a second primary care office at 6860 E. Sunrise Drive next month, said Michael Connolly, DO, a family medicine specialist and the physician executive responsible for Banner’s community-based clinics in Tucson.

A third primary care office will open at 7355 S. Houghton Road in June or July.

Offices in Oro Valley and Sahuarita also are in the works, Dr. Connolly said.

“Our hope is to open a primary care office wherever the need is greatest in our community. When people have ready access to a primary care provider, we see fewer visits to the emergency room and more coordinated care. It’s more convenient for patients and it’s just better health care,” he said.

The recently opened Cortaro Primary Care office is staffed by internal medicine specialist Julie Reddoch, MD, and family medicine nurse practitioner Seth Tate, DNP, FNP.

Dr. Reddoch comes to Tucson from Southern California, where she was with Kaiser Permanente in Fontana. She earned her medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and completed her residency in primary care and internal medicine at University of California, San Francisco.  She is board-certified in internal medicine and her special interests are preventive care, women’s health, medical ethics, health-care quality improvement, clinical teaching and mentoring.

Nurse practitioner Seth Tate has a doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Utah and is a licensed advance practice registered nurse, specializing in family practice. For the past seven years he has worked as a primary care provider in San Manuel, Ariz., and before that he practiced in Oregon and Utah.  He provides primary care to patients of all ages, including simple surgical procedures, joint injections, medication management and preventive care.

To schedule an appointment with either primary care provider at the Cortaro office, please call 520-694-1041. The office is open weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
