Find below scenes from the official ribbon-cutting at yesterday's VIP event for the opening of the new hospital tower for Banner – University Medical Center Tucson.
The crowd first gathered out front for a helicopter delivery of University of Arizona mascots Wilbur and Wilma Wildcat, with Wilbur rappelling down the side of the adjacent Diamond Children's tower.
Among those wielding scissors were (R-L) UA President Robert C. Robbins, MD; Banner – University Medicine CEO Chad Whelan, MD; Banner – UMC Tucson CEO Sarah Frost and Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild. Several UA Department of Medicine faculty attended including (former chair) Joseph Alpert, MD, (chair) Monica Kraft, MD, Kevin Moynahan, MD, and Esther Sternberg, MD.
