The University of Arizona Cancer Center is now accepting applications for Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research 2023 Medical Research Awards through Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 5 p.m. MST.
This is a limited submission opportunity, and the UArizona Cancer Center can nominate one applicant per category (Category 1: Mainstream/Conventional research project, Category 2: Integrative Medicine research project).
Purpose: These awards support incredibly promising physician scientists who are applying novel and state-of-the-art techniques to address fundamental problems in the genesis and treatment of blood related cancers. Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation remains committed to funding innovative, translational proposals and to supporting promising independent early-career investigators, rather than well-established senior scientists.
Eligibility: Applicants must have a MD or PhD, hold a junior faculty position at a 501(c)(3) teaching research institution, hold the designation of assistant professor (associate professors may also apply for Integrative Medicine projects only), have institutional support in the form of tenure track or be an independent junior faculty member, have held their current position no longer than five years (for Mainstream/Conventional projects only), clearly state that they have both independent research projects and independent resources, and have preliminary results and/or publications from their independent laboratory.
Funding amount: The total budget shall not exceed $225,000 total ($75,000 per year over three years). Overhead costs cannot exceed 10% ($22,500 total or $7,500 per year). This amount is to be included in the $75,000 per year award.
