National Doctors Day for 2024 is March 30. This annual observance serves as a moment to honor physicians for their dedication, skills, contributions and commitment to providing high-quality health care to individuals and communities everywhere.
The first Doctors’ Day observance was held Saturday, March 30, 1933, by the Barrow County Alliance, in Winder, Georgia. In 1990, a Congressional resolution passed designating that date as a national holiday to celebrate physicians.
This year, on Thursday, March 28, Banner – University Medicine Tucson and the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson will celebrate their attendings, residents and fellows with a special lunch held in the following sites at 11:30 a.m.:
- Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, College of Medicine – Tucson Social Hall (Room 2500 next door to Hospital Administration in old cafeteria)
- Banner – University Medical Center South, La Galeria Cafeteria
- Banner – University Medicine North, Room 10116
