Dr. Jayendra Shah is an endocrinologist and nuclear medicine physician in Tucson, AZ and was chief of staff at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System and a professor of medicine and radiology at University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, until retiring as Professor Emeritus of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Seth G.S. Medical College, Bombay/Mumbai, India, and has been in practice in the United Srates for over 50 years. He specializes in diabetes and lipid metabolism. He has more than 75 publications and over 500 citings. Dr. Shah is receipient of several Awards during his medical carrier, notebally, Dr. Shirwalker Gold Medal in Clinical Medicine, 1963; Dr.K.K. Datey Gold Medal in Medicine of University of Bombay,1967; Citation by Military Order of Purple Heart for Meritorious and Conspicous Service for Fellow Citizens and Veterans, 1995; Mark Walcott Award for Clinical Excellence by Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, 1998; John D. Chase Award for Physician Executive Excellence by Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS), 2000; Dr. M. Wiswanathan Oration Medal by Researh Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), 2002; Laureate Award of The American College of Physicians, Arizona Chapter 2006 and President's Distinguished Physician's Award by American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), 2010. He recently moved to Phoenix AZ area to be closer to his family.
