Look for new faces soon in the UA Division of Inpatient Medicine. Along with some recent departures come arrivals as well.
Srinivasa Raghavan Madhavan, MD, MSPH (right), started in April at Banner – University Medicine Tucson. He came from Sanford Health System at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he became a hospitalist after completing his residency in internal medicine there in 2015.
Prior to that, he was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where he devised and maintained a database of patients with arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD) and worked on novel techniques to induce therapeutic hypothermia. He also has been a surveillance epidemiologist for HIV for the Iowa Department of Health and for hepatitis C and HIV for the Arizona Department of Health, and was a graduate research assistant at the University of South Carolina, where he earned a master of science in public health degree in epidemiology and biostatistics.
Dr. Madhavan earned his medical degree from the Russian National Research Medical University, formerly the Russian State Medical University, in Moscow. From 2004-06, he worked in health care in India at the Dharma Trust GS Medical Hospital and the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. In 2014-15, he was a winner or finalist in the American College of Physicians National Resident Research Competition.
New physicians who will start July 1 include:
- Nathan R. Copeland, MD, comes to us from the Division of Hospital Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, where he is an instructor in medicine (PDA). He holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace and mechanical engineering as well as a medical degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, and also completed his residency in internal medicine here in 2015. Dr. Copeland was a research associate with the UA Sarver Heart Center (2004-07) and Sun Health Research Center, Sun City, Ariz. (2007-08), on work related to cardiac grafts. He is American Board of Internal Medicine certified and also holds American Hospital Association certification in basic and advanced cardiovascular life support (BLS/ACLS).
- Sujatha Doddi, MD, is currently a hospitalist at Montefiore Medical Center, a teaching hospital affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at New York’s Yeshiva University. Previously, she was an assistant professor of clinical medicine for three years (with a heavy focus on treatment of GI and liver disorders, post-liver and -renal transplant, and hepatitis and cirrhosis) at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. Doddi completed her internal medicine residency training at New Jersey’s Jersey City Medical Center, a teaching affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (formerly the Mount Sinai School of Medicine). Her medical degree comes from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, India. She is ABIM and BLS/ACLS certified.
- Sudheer Belur Sreenath, MD, is completing his internal medicine residency training at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. He is a graduate of the Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica and earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from Tampa’s University of South Florida. He also completed an externship in transplant cardiology/advanced heart failure under Siva Kumar, MD, at Tampa General Hospital. In addition to teaching and service, his research experience includes being a clinical sub-investigator on pain management studies at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.
Starting Aug. 15:
- Ryan McGrath, MD, is completing his residency in internal medicine at the University of Michigan School of Medicine in Ann Arbor. He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and holds a master’s degree in physiological sciences as well as a bachelor’s degree in physiology (magna cum laude) from the University of Arizona. Dr. McGrath was president of his class (3rd & 4th year) at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he was active in multiple teaching, service and research efforts. He is BLS/ACLS certified.
Starting in October:
- Nadia Ghallab, MD, is completing her internal medicine residency training at Morristown Medical Center, a part of Atlantic Health System, in Morristown, N.J. Her medical degree (MBBCh) is from Benha University School of Medicine, Benha, Egypt, where she was a house officer before becoming a primary care physician for the Ministry of Health. Dr. Ghallab’s scholarly activities include quality improvement projects on BMI screening and medication literacy. Among her honors are a PRIDE Award in Professionalism from the Morristown Medical Center’s Cardiac Care Unit. She also has several oral/poster presentations to her credit. She is BLS/ACLS certified.
Among recent and upcoming departures are Drs. Sundeep Shenoy (April 30); Janame Kottey (May 18); Sudhir Tutiki (May 20); Don Pepito and Manish Shah (June 15); and Syed Ali, Gajapathiraju Chamarthi and Chithra Poongkunran (June 30).
