Pradeep V. Kadambi, MD, MBA, FASN, has been appointed associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson and medical director of solid organ transplantation at the University of Arizona Medical Center (UAMC).
Dr. Kadambi is responsible for the development and oversight of UA/UAMC solid organ transplant programs.
“Dr. Kadambi is an outstanding addition to the Department of Medicine. He brings needed expertise in transplant medicine that will be of benefit to all of our transplant programs,” said Thomas D. Boyer, MD, head, UA Department of Medicine.

Dr. Kadambi’s expertise includes evaluation and management of kidney and pancreas transplant recipients, optimization of immunosuppression in transplant recipients and infectious complications in kidney and pancreas transplant recipients.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Kadambi was associate professor of medicine and medical director of kidney and pancreas transplantation with the Division of Nephrology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. He also has held faculty positions in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago, Ill., where he was director of the Nephrology Physician Directed Practice.
Dr. Kadambi’s professional memberships include the American Medical Association, the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplantation. He currently serves on the American Society of Transplantation Committee for Renal Transplant Fellowship Accreditation and the American Society of Nephrology Communications Committee. He served on the organizing committee of the Second International Conference on Nephrology and Therapeutics (2013), and serves on the Abstract Review Committee of the American Transplant Congress.
He has been an invited speaker at numerous national conferences and educational institutions.
His honors and awards include: the “Community Leadership Award,” presented by the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois; the Faculty Teaching Award (2009) and Faculty Mentorship Award (2011), presented by the Section of Nephrology fellowship program at the University of Chicago; Dr. Remmer’s Faculty Teaching Award, presented by the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension Fellowship Program at UTMB for outstanding teaching (2012, 2013) and Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (2014).
He has authored or co-authored numerous journal articles and book chapters, and is a reviewer for several scientific journals, including the American Journal of Transplantation, American Journal of Kidney Diseases, Journal of Nephrology, Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, Translational Research, Pediatric Transplantation, Clinical Transplant and Transplantation.
Dr. Kadambi earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery from Bangalore Medical College, India, in 1993. He completed his residency and internship in medicine in 1999 at Yale New Haven Hospital, Saint Raphael Campus, in New Haven, Conn., where he also completed a fellowship in nephrology in 2001. He completed a fellowship in transplant nephrology at the University of Chicago, Ill., in 2002. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Chicago, in 2011, with majors in Leadership in Organizations and Marketing.
