Four from DOM among Promotions Announcements at College of Medicine General Faculty Meeting, Nov. 16

Four University of Arizona Department of Medicine faculty will be among those whose promotions and tenure will be announced at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson General Faculty Meeting scheduled for 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, in Kiewit Auditorium.

Drs. Stefano Guerra, Christina Laukaitis, Franz Rischard and Sasha TalebanThey include:

  • Stefano Guerra, MD, PhD, MPH — promoted to professor with tenure — professor of medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine; respiratory sciences research professor, UA Health Sciences Asthma and Airway Disease Research Center; and associate professor, UA BIO5 Institute and UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health
  • Christina Laukaitis, MD, PhD — promoted to associate professor with tenure — associate professor, Division of Geriatrics, General Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine, Department of Medicine, COM-T, as well as Department of Nutritional Sciences, UA College of Agriculture & Life Sciences; member, Cancer Biology Graduate Interdisciplinary Program (GIDP), Genetics GIDP and UA Cancer Center; and director, Division of Genetic Consultation and Counseling, UAHS Center for Applied Genetics and Genomic Medicine
  • Franz P. Rischard, DO — promoted to associate professor (clinical scholar track) — associate professor of medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, and director, Pulmonary Hypertension Program, Banner – University Medical Center Tucson and South
  • Sasha Taleban, MD — promoted to associate professor (clinical scholar track) — associate professor of medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and director, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program, Banner – UMC Tucson and South

The above promotions were all effective July 1, 2017. They are among 35 in the current promotions and tenure approval cycle. Come cheer them all for this career recognition.
