TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine recently presented its inaugural Alumni of the Year award to David Kilgore, MD, FAAFP, health sciences clinical professor of family medicine at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine.
The award is presented to a graduate of the UA Center for Integrative Medicine’s educational programs who is advancing the field of integrative medicine. Open to graduates of the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, as well as the Integrative Health & Lifestyle program, nominations are solicited from among other graduates.
At UCI, Dr. Kilgore has been working to increase access to integrative health resources for underserved patients.
A graduate of the University of Southern California School of Medicine, Dr. Kilgore completed a residency in family medicine, a fellowship in faculty development and numerous other post-graduate training before graduating from the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine in 2011.
“There are so many other well-deserving alumni I’m sure,” Dr. Kilgore said, “and any work I’ve done would not have been possible without all the wonderful ideas and mentorship from many people at the UA Center for Integrative Medicine, as well as support and encouragement at my own organization.”
“Dave has been an incredible collaborator,” said Victoria Maizes, MD, executive director of the UA Center for Integrative Medicine. “We have worked together on so many integrative medicine educational projects and Dave has done an incredible job implementing initiatives in the UCI health-care system.”
“We are delighted to watch our graduates change medical education and practice,” said Andrew Weil, MD, founder and director of the UA Center for Integrative Medicine. “Dr. Kilgore’s accomplishments exemplify our goals.”
