The new ASN Co-Chair for the Kidney Health Initiative (KHI), Raymond C. Harris, MD, FASN, and former Co-Chair Prabir Roy-Chaudhury, MD, PhD, FASN, discuss the past and future of the organization.
Dr. Harris is the associate director, Division of Nephrology, and the Ann and Roscoe R. Robinson Chair in Nephrology, Department of Medicine, as well as a professor in the Professor, Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, at Vanderbilt University.
The interview was conducted in December 2018 and moderated by Tod Ibrahim, ASN executive vice president.

The Kidney Health Initiative is a public-private partnership between the ASN and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (click on image at right to enlarge graphic on latest kidney transplant statistics).
It’s mission is to advance scientific understanding of kidney health and patient safety implications of new and existing medical products as well as to foster development of therapies for diseases that affect the kidney by creating a collaborative environment in which the FDA and greater nephrology community can interact to optimize evaluation of drugs, devices, biologics and food products.
