"Genomically guided autologous cell therapy for treatment of cancers"
Sunil Sharma, MD
Dr. Sharma is a Board Certified Medical Oncologist and a physician scientist who specializes in treating gastrointestinal, neuroendocrine and rare tumors like mesotheliomas. His research interests include development of novel early phase clinical trials and discovery of novel anti-cancer therapies esp. those that target the epigenome and other interesting cancer targets. His laboratory has pioneered development of several anticancer agents that are currently in clinical trials. In addition, he has developed cellular immunotherapies and vaccines using personalized genomic and immunologic information that are entering clinical trials.  He has a broad expertise and interest in all aspects of cancer drug development and is interested in helping patients maximize their odds of survival and well being in the face of a deadly disease like cancer. He derives his inspiration from brave souls who face this disease. He hopes to mentor and help students and burgeoning doctors from around the world. He derives most of his satisfaction from creativity and purpose that he discovers everyday in colleagues and friends around the world. His mentors include many talented oncologists including Daniel Von Hoff, Douglas Yee, Mace Rothenberg, Kent Osborne, Kapil Bhalla, Geoffrey Weiss, David Kelsen, Gary Schwartz, Skip Burris etc. He feels fortunate to have been able to work at great institutions in his career.
