For those invited, please reserve the morning, from 9 a.m. to noon, on your calendar to attend this New Faculty Retreat.
The event is open to new college faculty (U of A and DCC affiliates) who started between Dec. 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024. Faculty who started in calendar year 2023 also are most welcome to attend. They, their department chairs, division chiefs and vice chairs should have received an email in late May to make them aware of this event.

9:30 AM – 10:00 AM: Session 1: Understanding COM-T Culture
- Presentation on the history, mission, and values of the College of Medicine.
- Interactive discussion: What does it mean to be a faculty member here?
- Small group activity: Brainstorming session on how to contribute positively to the college culture.
10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Session 2: Navigating Resources and Support Services
- Overview of available resources and support services for faculty (research support, teaching assistance, career development, etc.).
- Interactive Q&A session: Participants can ask questions and share experiences.
- Small group activity: Scenario-based discussion on utilizing resources effectively.

10:45 AM - 11:15 AM: Session 3: Understanding the Policies and Expectations of Faculty at COM-T
- Small group activity: Scenario-based application of policies
- Large group discussion and Q&A
11:15 AM - 12:00 PM: Session 4: Personal and Professional Development
- Presentation on strategies for personal and professional growth in academia (time management, career advancement, etc.).
- Interactive workshop: Goal-setting exercise, with participants setting one personal and one professional goal for the upcoming year.
- Small group discussions: Sharing goals and strategies for achieving them.

- Recap of key takeaways from the retreat.
