About the Presenter
Dr. Sutphin’s lab studies the fundamental biology of aging. Age is the primary risk factor for most prevalent diseases in our society, including cancer. By understanding and targeting molecular processes that drive aging, his research team aims to extend healthy human lifespan and treat or prevent broad categories of age-associated disease simultaneously. Through a combination of systems and comparative genetics, they identified the kynurenine metabolic pathway as a promising intervention target to slow aging. Ongoing projects examine the impact of kynurenine pathway interventions on longevity, cancer onset during normal aging, and cancer progression once established.
